easter show
We recently went to the Royal Easter Show held at the Sydney Olympic Park. We were there on a Saturday and there were really lots of people especially on the farmyard animals exhibits where you just follow the lines of people throughout. E would touch all the animals where he would put his hands carefully between the bars. We started the day on the kids carnival, we let E choose which rides he wants and we were surprised that he wanted to go on the free fall and the roller coaster and it was ok for him to ride it by himself, good thing he met the height requirement. Of course he didn’t miss the carousel and the bumper boat. After grabbing some lunch we went to the farmyard nursery and of course we couldn’t leave without getting a showbag. Even before we finished at the animals, E was already asking us for his showbag, which you can’t really not buy as all the kids there have at least one. So off we went to the showbag hall to buy him his ninja showbag, yes a ninja showbag, he didn’t really take notice of the other bags (like Cars, Wall-E, Wiggles, etc) all he really wanted was the ninja bag. And as soon as we got it he told me he was ready to go home, haha!

A few weeks ago …
E: mummy, don’t call me baby because i’m not a baby anymore.
me: but you’ll always be my baby.
E: no, i’m not a baby, i’m a big boy.
me: ok, you’re my little boy.
E: mummy, i’m not a little boy. i’m a big boy so call me E. don’t call me a baby, call me E because i’m a big boy.
me: ok, E! (wala na akong magawa)
Please don’t grow up too fast.

Despite being tired from doing house inspections in hot weather, we decided to push through with plans to go to Canberra. After multiple stopovers (including one at the weereewaa lookout) to rest we finally made it to the Bauis’ home, good thing they were kind enough to put us up for the weekend so we didn’t have to look for extended stay hotels.
The following day we visited the Parliament House some of the areas outside were blocked off to prepare for the following days Australia day celebrations. Dinner was at the Molinas who treated us with a delicious steak dinner and wonderful conversation.
Australia day was spent checking out Cockington Green before driving back to Sydney.

The past weekend was spent with friends. Saturday night dinner at Nando’s to catch up with Tin & fam and Roselle & fam. E had tons of fun playing with Ate RD, CN and A, and kept running around the restaurant. Sunday afternoon was spent catching up with Ness & Joel and their baby J. It was a fun afternoon that included a birthday pavlova for me and E.
It was a good weekend indeed!

Last boxing day, we decided to go to scenic world in blue mountains. We purchased a scenic pass that includes a return skyway and return valley (either via cableway or railway). The view was fantastic and we’re sure to go back again sometime maybe for a little hike.

The following day was reserved for Questacon and it didn’t disappoint. E had tons of fun and didn’t want to leave. On the drive back to Sydney as expected E slept like a log.

On Christmas Day we decided to go to Bondi Beach and as expected it was packed. We didn’t really get to explore the area, save that for the next trip. And yes, E spent the whole afternoon playing on the sand, digging a hole for a mini-pool.

E playing with be-chiak .. well more of clowning around haha!
christmas lights
A day before Gar (who’s on assignment in Melbourne) arrived to spend the chrissy holidays with us, I saw on tv a feature on some streets in Sydney that do a yearly christmas lights decor. So I looked up the streets to check if there was one nearby. After picking him up from the airport, we spent the afternoon at wentworth common at the olympic park and after dinner along with the Bauis off we went to Ashbury to check out the houses. We were all excited to see the houses (the ones they showed on tv were really nicely decorated, I just didn’t catch which area it was), according to the website there were four streets that participates in the yearly tradition. When we got there, the first street that we went to had only 1 house that put on christmas lights, as it turns out it was only the second street that most of the houses decorated. One particular house had all the people stopping and spending at least a few minutes (see the pic of gar below). I’m guessing that this was the house that started it all on that street, I read that they have been doing this for 18yrs. We only managed to get a few photos, we weren’t really ready for night shots haha!
turning a year older

I am thankful.
For the blessings – that come and continue to come.
For the little bumps – for they make me grow wiser (hopefully!), learn and appreciate what I have more.
For my family – for loving me in spite of all my shortcomings. hehe. miss ko kayo!
For my extended family – for being there for the three of us.
For old friends – for making the effort despite the distance.
For new friends – for making our life here a bit easier.
For Ichi and E!
2008 has been more of a transition year for us, I wish that this year we will get our groove back. Here’s to exploring more of Oz this year.
Happy birthday to me!!
