Being a stay-at-home wife and mum for almost 9 years, I sometimes dream of going out and studying a course or something. There are a lot of online courses these days and some sites like http://www.bestonlinedegrees.org can point you to different online universities. For me I don’t think I’ll be able to go through studying again to gain another degree but maybe diploma courses or short courses will do, just to get to experience a whole different world to where I am now. Maybe …
One of the shows that I love watching are design shows. It is so fun to watch them redecorate the houses. One of the shows that I catch late night is a rerun of a renovation show similar to home improvement but the difference is they do only one or two rooms in the house. In one episode, they did the backyard and the outdoor décor that they used was just fabulous. They really took that backyard from just being plain to a place that you would want to spend some time in. And yes the owners were really happy too.
Hubby’s (extended) family are car enthusiasts. Though they don’t collect cars (I think they would if they had the dough haha) they can surely talk endlessly when cars are the topic. An uncle once owned an auto shop/garage that was popular. There were a few who came in and asked for Ferrari parts, I think they could source it but they don’t generally carry those parts. Another uncle is into racing, he raced on the local circuit and he even went abroad to take an F1 driving course. Nowadays, he’s into building race cars. Some cousins either went to work for garages or opened a car dealership. It’s still a question though if their liking for cars will rub off on the next generation.
With diabetes running in the family and with my mom the latest to be diagnosed with it. It helps to maintain a good diet to prevent being one. We try not to have too many sweets in the house, though we don’t deprive ourselves, we try to limit dessert intake. While googling diabetes on the internet, diabetic socks came up and it is supposed to help increase leg circulation and ease pain from swollen ankles and ulcers to help prevent nerve damage that can cause the feet to lose feeling. I wonder if my mom is supposed to start wearing these now? or is it better that she does? Have to remind her to ask her doctor about it.
Speaking of sales, I saw on a recent catalogue that one of the sports chain here has a deal on ellipticals. If you plan on getting some exercise equipment now would be a really good time. Me, I don’t think we’ll be getting one soon not that I don’t need the exercise (we all know I do :p) but we just don’t have the space. I would think that if we ever do get anything that resembles an equipment (haha!) it would be something that could easily be stored and nothing bulky.
It’s almost the end of financial year here and lots of the stores are doing stocktake sales to clear their inventory. For example the electronic stores are throwing in either a plasma tv stands or a blueray dvd player when you buy a tv. Others are bundling in free cable installation/connection. Car dealers are also going full blast with tv ads for their sales. I wonder what the sales are for the baby clothing stores? Planning to buy a puffer jacket for I.
I’ve been a member of ebay for about a year now but I really haven’t bought anything until last week. Prior to that I did bid on a couple of items but being a “cheapskate” I didn’t win. Last week though I decided to look for some game cartridges for E’s leapster. They don’t sell it here anymore since they have the new version of the leapster along with the newer version games. I finally won on a bid and just because it’s not a hot item haha! It is at a good price and I think a best buy compared to ordering one from the US. I think I’ll be buying a couple more games for E.
It gets annoying when every few days our intercom buzzes and it’s always for the same office below. All of them mistakenly assume that the intercom includes the offices on the first floor but no, they’re all just for the residential units. It was more “peaceful” in our previous place as it didn’t have any door bells or door chimes, but then whenever someone delivered a package we would always miss it and end up having to pick it up at the post office as we couldn’t hear it when someone was knocking especially when you were in the bed rooms. Anyways, back to the current place it is fine if it was just once or twice but in the last two weeks it was pretty frequent. I just hope that in the coming months it will lessen or not happen again as I don’t see any solution to it.
After the Biggest Loser wrapped it’s season a month or so ago, there was a feature on the local news magazine show about diets that work. They had their staff and some other people try different diets and compared the results. Some got the “promised” results of the diet they were trying while some didn’t. I think these results should be taken with a grain of salt, as everyone reacts to a diet differently. Oh, and the Biggest Loser is now looking for families for their next season. It’s not just couples anymore.
There was a guy outside the train station giving away flyers. On one of the flyers was a discount on a package of facial and acne treatments. I wonder how many % of those that receive the flyer actually calls and gets package. I normally just see these types of flyers go straight to the bins. Hopefully they do get lots of walk-ins from that to justify the expenses on printing the flyers.
