weddings

July 27th, 2011

We have two weddings in the family next year. And we are so looking forward to going home and witnessing those special occasions. Especially excited too that the kiddos will be part of the entourage. It’s still a little more that a year to go so we haven’t made any definite plans yet. There are a coiple of events that we’d like to do but we’ll see if we can really make it happen. Back to the weddings, I’m not sure if they (the couples) have looked for their rings, they could certainly look at triton wedding bands. Though I am not sure what type of wedding bands they are looking for. If they do already decide to get the rings than that will be one item off the checklist.

mid-year

July 15th, 2011

Wow! Time surely flies, I can’t believe it’s a little more than halfway through the year. Where did the past months go! We’re currently down to the last days of the winter school holiday and we’ll be back to the regular grind of drop-offs, pickups and homework next week. In 4 mos time, little girl will be turning 2! I wonder how we’ll celebrate this year. I’m hoping we can do a quick getaway like last year to celebrate not only little girl’s birthday but our 10th wedding anniversary as well. Hmm .. time to browse the different websites and check out if there are any promos. Pretty soon as well, it will be Christmas and there are a lot of toy sales and it is pretty tempting to lay-by a lot of the stuff for Christmas gifts. I also saw some promos for personalized kids gifts and I think these would make nice gifts especially to kids of schooling age. And I bet that would be appreciated by parents as well. Lots of planning to do.

down the aisle

June 26th, 2011

The main reason we are going home to Manila albeit only a vacation is for my BIL’s wedding. They have set a date and have booked the church and reception venue. I think now they are on the hunt for the photographer and videographer. I still don’t know of they already picked out a theme. There definitely are a lot more things to be ticked off the preps list but i think most of it will be done by next year as it comes closer to the date. One of the items on my BIL & his fiancee’s things to do for the wedding is find a good florist. There are a lot of good ones out there that can do custom flowers but I heard there is also an alternative being done for wedding bouquets and that is food. I saw some photos and they do look gorgeous just like a floral bouquet would. I wonder what they will go with. It definitely would be something if they will go for newer trends. I do wish them the best not just on the marriagw but also in finding great suppliers for the wedding so they’ll not end up with headaches on the wedding day and just enjoy the celebration.

fine day

Spent a nice afternoon at the Australian museum. E has been wanting to go see the dinosaur exhibit. He definitely enjoyed it along with the birds and skeleton exhibit. He even made me list down his favourites. Next up would be the Maritime museum.

counting down

March 17th, 2011

Only a few more weeks and my family will be here. Am so excited to spend time with them albeit a short time. My brothers will be here short of two weeks but at least we’ll get to spend some time with them. We’re planning a quick getaway and the kiddos are excited. We’re renting a van and hopefully everything on our itinerary will be smooth. Was researching on some places that we can drive to and there are a lot of options, even found a thread on a forum on people who rented rv’s to do the road trip. It was fascinating to read their tips, adventures even rv repairs that they had to do. So anyways, still have to do some bookings to finalize the itinerary. So excited.

of babies

December 26th, 2010

When you’re pregnant and preparing for the baby, I don’t know about you but the first time around I scoured all the pregnancy checklists to compile all the items that they recommend you have. If had the money I would have bought everything. With my first baby, I learned which items are a must and which are nice if you have the money. Which we applied when I got pregnant the second time. One of the things that has proven useful is a baby carrier. With I, after scouring the internet for reviews, we decided on buying the ergo baby carrier. And I really appreciated it on times when it is raining and I have to pick up E from school. Or the time we went to the Blue Mountains and did a short hike, it was much better with I in the ergo.

We (me and a few kindy mums) brought the kids to the bowling alley last Tuesday to take advantage of their after school offer and boy did the kids enjoy their first bowling experience. It was funny because as soon as they sort of learned the concept, everyone adjusted the bowling ramp on their own to try to hit all the pins down. E ended up getting the top score after getting two strikes, he was really happy but then everyone forgot the scores when we handed then the arcade tokens after haha. I heard from the mums the next day that everyone asked when they could go again. Another bowling play date soon!

stuffers

I was thinking of getting some Christmas stockings this year. We haven’t done this before but maybe we can start this tradition for the kids, just little gifts in their stockings to open on Christmas eve before going to their real presents on Christmas day. I hope to find some cute stockings, ones that are large enough to put little gifts in. Then next would be to think of great Christmas stocking stuffers. I’m thinking of maybe stickers and some Ben 10 figurines for E. But what about for the little girl? and Ichi too?

diabetes

June 2nd, 2010

With diabetes running in the family and with my mom the latest to be diagnosed with it. It helps to maintain a good diet to prevent being one. We try not to have too many sweets in the house, though we don’t deprive ourselves, we try to limit dessert intake. While googling diabetes on the internet, diabetic socks came up and it is supposed to help increase leg circulation and ease pain from swollen ankles and ulcers to help prevent nerve damage that can cause the feet to lose feeling. I wonder if my mom is supposed to start wearing these now? or is it better that she does? Have to remind her to ask her doctor about it.
