new netbook

May 23rd, 2009

My mum was at the electronics store earlier this morning and was loooking at the different netbooks available. She was initially looking at the Eee PC 1000HE but somehow ended up with the Neo Vivid V1190 instead. I guess with the little differences in the specs she opted for the lower priced of the two and with 0% installments at that. I guess all that’s left is to set it up with all the software that she regularly uses.

haircut

May 23rd, 2009

These are pics from the first time E had his haircut here back in October. It was also the first time that it was in an adult salon. The few times that we had his hair cut in a salon it was a kiddie salon and I must say that it was cheaper to have his haircut in the adult salon here than in the kiddie salon in Manila.

moving again?

May 23rd, 2009

Two weeks ago we were informed by the agent that our landlord is selling the townhouse that we are renting. Last weekend they had their first viewing of the house, during that 30 minute viewing there were about 20 families who came. It seems that the first home owners bonus scheme is doing its work and getting more and more people to take the plunge when otherwise they would not buy. Anyways, the agent called up Ichi the other day saying that the owner has expressed an interest in breaking the lease (as all of the potential buyers that liked the unit didn’t want to buy a tenanted unit) and was asking if we were inclined to do so. So now we’re thinking about what a fair compensation would be for us to take him up on it cause our lease won’t be up until early February. If he agrees to what we asked then we would be moving asap. It’s a good and bad thing/timing for us, on the one hand I think its better to move now before bub#2 comes but on the other hand we just settled and then have to move again. I guess anyone in my position would not need diet pill that works with the packing and unpacking being done in just under a year. Oh well, hopefully it all works out.

storage

May 16th, 2009

We’ve been thinking about buying a 1TB external hard drive to supplement the ones that we currently have. The one that we currently use now is almost always full with all our downloads, picture files and digital scrapbooking files. I haven’t checked out the stores for their offers. Maybe go to a wholesale electronics store to get it cheaper. At the same time check the price of the netbooks my mom is interested in.

society problems

May 11th, 2009

There is a show that recently started airing called Recruits. It takes a look at the some of the probationary constables as they start serving in the police force. Of couse on the first episode one of them had to break up a brawl in the city where one man was stabbed and yes all of those involved were drunk. It seems that even with the government campaign against excessive drinking, it still is a big problem and it seems to have little effect. We also often see on the news about celebrities that have addiction problem most of them go into drug rehab facilities which hopefully sets them into the right path.  These are some of the problems that are really scary to parents like me that we are doing everything to raise our children right.

go manny!

May 4th, 2009

I admit I’m not such a big fan of the sport but I can’t help but watch when it comes to Manny Pacquaio. My earliest memories of watching the man in interviews (I think this was pre-Roach) I didn’t like how he came across. But over the last fights he had, I like how humble (compared to other boxers) and unassuming he is in interviews. In yesterday’s fight against Hatton, Ichi and I were in awe with how fast he was, we couldn’t even see the punches. I just hope that he has smarts about him with regards to the money he’s earning now that down the line we don’t hear that he’s squandered all, maybe even follow in De La Hoya’s footsteps (in terms of boxing promotion)? But please don’t go into politics, I really believe he can do more as a private citizen.
