settling
After over a week of transferring to the new place, our broadband has finally been activated. yipee! All our connections have been activated, and most of our bags and boxes are unpacked. Though there are a couple more boxes to unpack but there is now walking space in our living and dining rooms now haha. We were also able to enroll E at the nearby preschool since the place we moved to is far from the previous place. He was a bit sad to leave the old house and his preschool but he’s been excited to have his own room and has been sleeping there since we moved in. He has been sleeping the past two nights with me and Ichi because he’s sick. I was telling him this morning to go back to sleeping in his room tonight since he’s much better but he countered with letting him sleep one more night and then promises that he’ll go back to his room tomorrow. So what’s a mom to do but agree?!!
Oh, and lately whenever he sees a baby – any kind of baby, human babies, insect babies, etc whether in person or in pictures – he would say “oh, how cute!” with facial expression yan. It’s so funny seeing him do that especially when its pictures of things not cute at all, well beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right!

Recently we’ve been to several carparks that have a car park assist sytem installed. Aside from some signages that indicates how many slots are available, all the slots are fitted with light indicators with their corresponding colors that tell you which slot is available. The colors are green (regular slots), blue (handicap parking), pink (parking for parents with prams) and of course red (slot is unavailable). I think a lot of the malls are now adapting this system. I wonder when car lifts like those in japan or taiwan will be available here.

With the cost of big capacity memory cards dropping these days, we’ve been thinking about buying a couple more SD cards for our camera. As of now we only have two 1GB sd cards and if we plan to learn more about photography and try shooting in RAW mode then we definitely have to have more memory space. Have to be on the lookout for good deals from the various electronics store.

Been frequenting the nearby mall lately for stuff that we need at home. Also for food as we haven’t finished unpacking our stuff especially for the kitchen, we needed disinfectants to clean the cupboards and drawers. With the amount of grocery bills we have lately, we can’t help but wonder if the supermarkets’ barcode scanner is scanning right but of course the prices of goods these days have really gone up. Wonder how we can tighten our belts some more.

Will be off for a while as we move to the new place. I thought we’d have the phone and the connection up and running by next week but as it turns out our current broadband provider put in a wrong address on the new application (we decided to bundle our phone with our current adsl provider) for the phone installation so instead of this saturday the installation would be next week. So that would also mean a delay in our application for the broadband to be relocated. Anyways hope we’ll be back online by the end of next week. Happy valentine’s everyone!

With M & N’s wedding mid-year, her mom asked my mom if she could help to find some flowergirl dresses for her granddaughters. So my mom (she loves this stuff hehe) was off to the mall to get two dresses. My mom wasn’t completely sold on the dresses that she got so she bought some ribbons to put around the waist. She also sent auntie E some dresses that she could wear for the wedding. Good thing that M’s aunt will be flying to Canada so she can pass the things to auntie E. My mom also told me that she was looking for watches to give M & N as wedding presents, I told her she could probably look at some audemars piguet but I think she went with another brand.

One of the things that we plan to get sometime in the near future is a barbecue not the big ones but something compact as we only have a small yard. I remember in Singapore almost all condominiums or HDBs have designated bbq areas. And these would almost always be booked for birthdays and other celebrations. During holidays, if you plan to have a barbie you have to be sure to book early. Here in Australia, it is common for people to have their own barbecues at home. When we drive around in our area we would always see a few out in the balconies. We’ll I guess we have to do our research on which one to get maybe in time for spring, if not it will be for summer next year haha. Time to scout around for one while lots of stores now are on their final sale for the summer.
moving stuff
We’ve been going back and forth our current place and the new rental, cleaning and bringing small stuff. We’re also doing a more detailed inspection for the current condition report to give the rental agency. Last weekend, while at the new place we left the garage door remote in the car and so had to resort to knocking on a neighbors door to ask their help to open the doors to the garage as the keys we were given weren’t working. Good thing it was still early so our neighbor was still up otherwise we wouldn’t know what we would have done. Some of the light bulbs in the house were busted so we have to have those replaced and probably buy an emergency light too. Now, if I can only finish the packing by Thursday so we’ll be all set for the move this weekend.

I love Ellen, I just love watching her show, it’s just fun especially all the crazy stuff that they do on the show. For her grammy show, she did this hilarious duet with Josh Groban.

not a baby
A few weeks ago …
E: mummy, don’t call me baby because i’m not a baby anymore.
me: but you’ll always be my baby.
E: no, i’m not a baby, i’m a big boy.
me: ok, you’re my little boy.
E: mummy, i’m not a little boy. i’m a big boy so call me E. don’t call me a baby, call me E because i’m a big boy.
me: ok, E! (wala na akong magawa)
Please don’t grow up too fast.
