rental blues

January 24th, 2009

Last Tuesday as we were headed out to pick up my SIL at the airport, I got our mail from the letterbox and what do I find? A letter from the real estate company informing us that our unit has been sold and the we need to be out in a month’s time. Waaahh!! Super short notice. Had we known this would happen the first month of 2009 then I think we would have looked for a new place before our lease was up last year.  Anyways, we are off to inspections tomorrow and hopefully finish early to still push through with taking SIL to Canberra. Oh and to add more, we were late in picking SIL up as the M5 was closed for roadworks and the stupid GPS kept rerouting us back to M5. After two tries I had to get the map and figure out how to get to the airport, where SIL was already contemplating on taking a cab to our place, hehe. Wish us luck with the house hunting.

catch-up weekend

January 19th, 2009

The past weekend was spent with friends. Saturday night dinner at Nando’s to catch up with Tin & fam and Roselle & fam. E had tons of fun playing with Ate RD, CN and A, and kept running around the restaurant. Sunday afternoon was spent catching up with Ness & Joel and their baby J. It was a fun afternoon that included a birthday pavlova for me and E.

pounds and kilos

January 17th, 2009

I’ve always said that I want to be more active, phsyically that is. Meaning I have to start exercising regularly or even regular walks around the block, but I can’t seem to motivate myself to do it. My hiphop abs dvd which I bought last year while still in Singapore is gathering dust on the shelf. I haven’t even played it once. Hmm, I really need to start to do something about this, sometimes it is so tempting to just take weight loss pills to remove those unwanted pounds.

housing

January 17th, 2009

One of the differences in rentals here and in Singapore was that most if not all rentals here in Oz is unfurnished. Though there are unfurnished units/houses for rent in SG but more often you can get units furnished. During the years that we were there we never had to buy our own furnitures which made the whole thing easier on the pockets. Coming here we knew that we had to furnish the unit. So after securing us a house, ichi made rounds of the different stores. A lot of what he saw were modern furnitures. It wasn’t easy to decide especially if you consider the budget and the numerous styles available.

blue mountains

January 15th, 2009

Last boxing day, we decided to go to scenic world in blue mountains. We purchased a scenic pass that includes a return skyway and return valley (either via cableway or railway). The view was fantastic and we’re sure to go back again sometime maybe for a little hike.

Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors, I just love his books. The first one that I read was The Notebook and I was hooked. One of my favorite movies is A Walk To Remember, I think I’ve watched it more than 5 times already. His books are always set in North Carolina and from the web or the movies or tv shows that film there, it always seems like a nice place to go to. Good thing there are websites for outer banks rentals that you could browse to check out accomodations if you plan to vacation there.

resolutions

January 15th, 2009

I remember when I was younger that before the year ends I made a list of what I wanted to do for the new year. Well, I don’t think I followed through on what I wrote on that list. I haven’t made a list for years now and I don’t think I will start doing one again. One of the things though that I think always gets put on resolutions list is dieting. And there are lots of ways to help you with your dieting, one could be weight loss supplements. You do have to research the pros and cons like hydroxycut reviews.

dribble away

January 15th, 2009

Ichi has been following the NBA more closely the past years as he’s into fantasy basketball league. Last year, he had two leagues a public one and one with his cousins. He won the public one. So this year, somehow he ended up on three leagues – one with his cousins, one with my brother and his friends, and one with friends here in AU. This year though so far he’s been on the bottom ranks of all three. We’ll see if his ranking improve over the season.

Being a basketball follower is not surprising as basketball is the number one sport in the Philippines. My youngest brother is also into basketball, his is more on the active side though as he regularly plays in Manila. He even gets to go on trips abroad as their bonus for winning championships and if they get to add more basketball trophies to their team owners display cabinet then one of their trips would probably be to Malaysia.

The following day was reserved for Questacon and it didn’t disappoint. E had tons of fun and didn’t want to leave. On the drive back to Sydney as expected E slept like a log.
