libre lang

Here is something I stumbled upon months ago but didn’t get time to blog abut it. These are two Americans (Tory and Jason) in the Philippines trying their hand at being taxi drivers.

I think it’s always a pleasant surprise to see and hear people from other countries speak Tagalog. The video was hilarious I really don’t think they would be getting any passengers what with their getup made only worse when they started shouting ‘libre na’ (free), haha! I found out that they were missionaries before and they’ve been coming and going to the Philippines for the past several years already. They are coming back to the Philippines. I think Tory is already in Manila with Jason following soon. They are planning to do another round of jobs, a lot of people are already tweeting them different suggestions – from selling taho (bean curd),  fish balls, driving passenger jeepneys and buses. Maybe they can be street vendors – the ones that rush to your car during stops and sell a bunch of stuff (like led headlamps, toys, bottled water, food, etc.). Looking forward to what they’ll do. You can follow them on twitter @PIJobexperiment.

A new chapter?

Yesterday, our new President was proclaimed – Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Cojuangco Aquino III. Although I wasn’t able to vote for him in the recent elections, our votes would have gone to him. I’m a little afraid for him though, with the HUGE expectation the people have of him to fix everything at once. So far he seems to be taking the right steps, we still have to see who he’ll put in his cabinet and what he’ll do with Vice-President Binay but I hope he does prove his mettle and bring about change for the next 6 years.

school

Ichi’s cousin recently graduated from UP College of Law. It feels like it was just yesterday when she was preparing for the Law Aptitude Examination to apply for entrance to the college (similar to LSAT preps in the US), now she’s doing Bar Review in preparation for the Philippine Bar Examinations this September. The Bar Exam is held over four Sundays with each day having specific subjects for testing. Good luck Dy!

bathroom dance

This has been making the rounds on the net for a while now and really Michael V is a genius when it comes to this ..

Here’s the spoof of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance by Michael V on GMA’s Bubble Gang:

diva

One of nice things with technology and the internet these days is that we are able to watch news or shows from home. Home in this case being the Philippines. Aside from being able to catch up on news and what not, it’s nice to once in a while be able to watch teleseryes, sineseryes or whatever they call it nowadays. I admit I watch more of taiwanese or korean series online but sometimes there are pinoy series that catch my fancy. The other day I just started watching Diva which stars Regine Velasquez, Mark Anthony Fernandez and TJ Trinidad. It’s about Sampaguita (Regine) and her trials and journeys to become a singer ( I think haha, I’m only a few episodes in and it has been airing since March). You see she was born ugly but with a great voice but the Regine that was shown at the start of the series is a beautiful one so let’s see how she transforms from the ugly duckling to the swan. The comedy in the show is campy but for some reason I like it :)

Here’s part one of the first episode…

this is it

Michael Jackson’s long time choreographer Travis Payne and MJ dancers went to Cebu to choreograph and perform with the inmates last January 19, 2010. It took 2 days to complete the choreography and it is said that this video will be included in the dvd and blue ray copies of This Is It.

car repairs

With the recent consecutive typhoons that hit the Philippines, among the physical damages were the cars that were submerged in the floods. After sorting out the damages and the things which can still be kept in homes, the next thing that needs to be done  are the repairs for the cars. A lot of these would need car detailing, replacing auto accessories and the lot, that is if the car can still be repaired.

sugarcane

My brother and his partner opened a new branch of their sugarcane business today at Robinson’s Galleria in Quezon City. Before the end of the year they are looking at opening another one at Robinson’s Manila, they’re just working out the details with the leasing department. Looks like they can use good pos systems for all their branches to make updates of sales and supplies easier to monitor. Please visit their branches located in different SM malls and now Robinsons Galleria. For more info on the branches check out their facebook page –

We’re just glad that all our families back home are safe, though there may be material losses but still they are all safe. I wish and pray that all those who are still stranded are rescued and there are campaigns for donations and relief goods that have been setup. You can check out Bianca Gonzales’ blog for a list.

RIP
